Rossburn Age Friendly Committee

“Age Friendly Communities support people to age safely, enjoy good health and to continue to participate fully in their community.” Viewing community living through an
Age Friendly lens helps to improve quality of life for all and contributes to a respectful social environment. The Age Friendliness of the community is promoted, understood and appreciated, for example, by local government, businesses, non-profit groups, senior centres, schools,& professional services.

Rossburn Age Friendly was established in 2009 by a Municipal council resolution. We have stayed active throughout with a short interruption due to Covid.

In 2024, Manitoba Association of Senior Communities opened – to all Age-Friendly Communities, the opportunity to apply for the Community Collaboration Grant Project.
Rossburn Age-Friendly Committee applied to enhance and update the technology at our Drop-In-Centre and give a face lift to the interior. We are very excited and pleased that
we were approved for this, to an amount of $8,978.74.

Rossburn Chamber of Commerce

A Chamber is like a networking group. It is designed to provide a “hub” or group forum of like minded individuals to meet and work together with other businesses, organizations and individuals, to help improve their local economy and community for longer sustainability and growth. It fosters working relationships with other business owners and people. Businesses, groups and individuals supporting other businesses and groups.

It doesn’t matter how big or small your business is. The true reach of the advantages personally and community wise is what you want to make from it. It’s all about vision and imagination – you can only see as far as your mind will let you.

Seeing a benefit or value of the Chamber and other businesses/organizations in your community is seeing long term support and growth for your own business. It’s also fostering those connections.

Rossburn Chamber of Commerce

  • The Rossburn Chamber of Commerce hosts several events a year to help attract visitors to our community
  • Annually: We create the Rossburn Visitor Guide.
  • We maintain signs at 3 local lakes promoting various Chamber member businesses and organizations at a low cost to members.
  • Our social media platforms are to promote various Chamber member businesses, organizations and their events for free.
  • We partner or assist businesses and organizations to host community events.
  • We spearhead a spring/summer and Christmas event to work together with local groups and businesses.
  • We recognize and strive to continue working together with our members to help bring people into our community to better support our local businesses and organizations, add benefits to their membership and to continue together, to try, and boost the local economy and grow our community.
  • We can only accomplish as much as people are willing to put into the chamber with their time and energy.

Rossburn Skating Club

The Rossburn Skating Club is a non-profit club that encourages and supports children in Rossburn and surrounding areas to learn and further their skating skills. Provided there is someone interested and available to coach, the club offers skating lessons at the Rossburn Community Rink (skating season length is dependent on weather and ice conditions). At the end of the skating season, dependent on club size, there is typically a skating carnival or showcase for the skaters to demonstrate the skills they learned to their family and friends. One of our club’s main fundraisers is the annual Bike-a-thon (typically held in May) from Rossburn Elementary School to Rossman Lake.

We are always looking for volunteers or board members. One can join by messaging on Facebook or emailing Tia. Club meetings occur during the skating season, as needed.
